In addition, it would be a good idea to ask ratings organizations like the MPAA to make "favorable depiction of guns or gun use" qualify a movie for an R rating or the equivalent. This could help prevent youth from glorifying the ownership or use of guns.

First thing, feel out what there opinion on the subject is by innocuously starting a conversation about a related topic. Mentioning recent legal decisions about gay marriage is a safe bet, but other topics would work too, as long as raising it gives no indication of your opinion on the matter. Hopefully, they will be of a positive or neutral disposition towards gays.
